NHS commitment to Portree Hospital and the Sir Lewis Ritchie Process September 2021
Community members met with NHS management representatives on the 24th of August in Portree.
Professor Boyd Robertson, NHS Highland Chair, said: “The meeting organised by the Health Board provided an opportunity for members of the options appraisal group to hear a presentation from Louise Bussell, The Board’s Chief Officer of a proposed Health Board vision for Skye. The vision had been requested by the local community following the previous options appraisal meeting. It was a positive meeting and the vision was favourably received.”
Pam Dudek, Chief Executive of NHS Highland, responded to a range of concerns raised at the meeting and acknowledged the need for progress to be made with a shared vision for the future of health and social care in the area. She commented: “ We are grateful to those who attended the meeting for the feedback they provided and we will continue to work closely with the community in regard to both short term and long term service developments. We are keen to recommence the options appraisal in the near future and will send out dates shortly.”
Louise Bussell, Chief Officer for Highland Community added "At the meeting we confirmed that we remain committed to the in-patient and urgent care facilities in Portree and have no plans or intention to remove either service as we progress with planning for the longer term future of service provision in north Skye. We are committed to supporting the achievement of the Lewis Ritchie recommendations."
